Bangkok, December 23 (AseanAll) — On December 23, 2025, the Government of Republic of Korea, through Park Yong-min, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Thailand, and the delegation, presented financial aid for flood relief in Southern Thailand to Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul.

Witnessing the presentation were Prime Minister’s Secretary-General Traisuree Taisaranakul, Secretary to Minister of Foreign Affairs Sarun Charoensuwan, Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister for Administration Chanida Kasemsuk, and Director-General of Thailand Foundation and International Cooperation Agency (TICA) under Ministry of Foreign Affairs Chulvat Narinthrangura.
The donation, worth USD500,000, is given to Thailand, through TICA, to support flood relief and rehabilitation efforts in the South, including procurement of medical equipment and other necessities.
The Prime Minister expressed appreciation to the South Korean Government, on behalf of the Thai Government and people, for its goodwill and generosity, which reflects strong and long-standing friendship between the two countries. The Prime Minister affirmed the Thai Government’s commitment to proceed with the rehabilitation and recovery at full capacity. This financial aid will be used in a transparent and accountable manner to restore the livelihood of people and affected areas for their best benefits.
The South Korean Ambassador expressed condolence over the flood disaster. He had visited Songkhla’s Hat Yai district just one week before the disaster and was saddened to hear about the incident. The Ambassador, however, expressed confidence on Thailand’s speedy recovery and quick return to normalcy. Financial aid from the South Korean Government and people serves as a symbol of long-standing friendship. Additional financial support to help flood-affected victims in the South is also contributed by the Korean community in Thailand.
Both parties exchanged views on the current international situation. The Prime Minister mentioned about the Thailand-Cambodia situation and affirmed that Thailand has never, is not, and will never initiate military forces against any country. He also emphasized the Thai Government’s commitment to solve the issue by peaceful means on the basis of facts and mutual respect. The South Korean Ambassador respected Thailand’s position. South Korea, as a friend, believes that both sides can engage in a constructive and fact-based dialogue that will lead to peaceful resolution to the conflict.
At the end of the meeting, the Prime Minister thanked South Korean Government and people once again for the friendship and support, and emphasized that Thailand-South Korea relations would continue to move ahead in a stable and tangible manner for the interest of the people of both countries.
