Moscow,December 2 (AseanAll) — On December 2, 2025 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow.

Wang Yi said that since the beginning of this year, the international environment has become increasingly unstable, uncertain, and unpredictable. Under the strategic guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, China-Russia relations dare to brave high winds and choppy waters, and meet challenges head-on, achieving high-level, wide-ranging and high-quality development. The two heads of state held in-depth exchanges twice this year on the occasions commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of World War II, focusing on changes unseen in a century, charting the course for and shaping the future of China-Russia relations, and providing stability and certainty to the world. In particular, both sides agreed to firmly safeguard the outcomes of the victory of World War II, resolutely oppose any retrogressive acts attempting to whitewash colonial aggression, and send a powerful message for upholding justice and fairness in the current era. As permanent members of the United Nations (UN) Security Council and comprehensive strategic partners of coordination for the new era, China and Russia should continue to coordinate and cooperate to resolutely curb the provocative acts of Japan's far-right forces that undermine regional peace and stability and attempt to remilitarize.
Wang Yi said that Russian President Vladimir Putin has just signed a decree granting Chinese citizens visa-free entry to Russia, which is a vivid manifestation of the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for the new era. This will further facilitate personnel exchanges between the two countries and promote exchanges and cooperation in various fields. China is ready to work with Russia to implement the visa-free policy and ensure its successful execution. Noting that next year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination, as well as the 25th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation, Wang Yi said that the development of China-Russia relations will usher in new historical opportunities. China is ready to continue working with Russia to fully implement the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state, and through stronger mutual support, more robust strategic coordination, and more proactive mutually beneficial cooperation, bring more benefits to the people of both countries and contribute to the development of a more just and equitable international order.

Sergei Lavrov said that the two heads of state exchanged visits this year, injecting new impetus into further consolidating the Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination. Russia abides by the one-China principle and firmly supports China's position on the Taiwan question. Russia is ready to take the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Russia-China Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation next year as an opportunity to intensify high-level exchanges, deepen practical cooperation, enhance personnel exchanges, and achieve win-win results. Russia supports China's hosting of the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting and appreciates and supports the Global Governance Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping. Russia is willing to work with China to jointly uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, strengthen cooperation within multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations and its Security Council, APEC, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and BRICS, safeguard the national interests of both countries, and maintain international security and stability.
Sergei Lavrov shared his views on the Ukraine crisis, commended China's objective and impartial stance, and expressed willingness to maintain communication with the Chinese side. Wang Yi elaborated on China's consistent position, stating that China will continue to play a constructive role in the political settlement of the crisis.
The two sides also had an in-depth exchange of views on other international and regional issues of mutual concern.
