Malaysian PM thanks Thailand for promoting border peace through diplomatic means

Kuala Lumpur, October 27 (AseanAll)  — On October 26, 2025,  at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, together with leaders of other ASEAN member states, dialogue partners, and representative from international organizations, attended the 47th ASEAN Summit and related summits, chaired by Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia.

The Malaysian Prime Minister welcomed ASEAN leaders in his opening speech, during which he also thanked the Thai Prime Minister for his visionary and courageous leadership in pushing for border peace through diplomatic means, which led to the signing of the Joint Declaration that will bring about peace between Thailand and Cambodia today in Kuala Lumpur. 

The Malaysian Prime Minister added that the signing of the Joint Declaration by Thailand and Cambodia would be a proof to the global community that ASEAN's peaceful approach can lead to tangible change, as peace is the power of courage that allows each nation to determine its own future.

At the meeting, ASEAN leaders also congratulated Timor Leste’s official accession to ASEAN.
