Thai Foreign Minister Holds Bilateral Discussion with Lao Foreign Minister Ahead of the Official Visit by the Thai Prime Minister

Vientiane, October 16 (AseanAll)  — On 15 October 2025, Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs, paid a working visit to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) and held a bilateral meeting with Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, in preparation for the upcoming Official Visit to the Lao PDR by Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of Thailand.

Both sides expressed satisfaction that the close and long-standing cooperation between Thailand and the Lao PDR has continued to bring tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries and contributed positively to the development and stability of the Mekong sub-region as well as the wider ASEAN community.

The two Ministers also exchanged views on regional developments.  The Thai Foreign Minister reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to resolving the Thailand –Cambodia border situation peacefully through existing bilateral mechanisms. He also conveyed Thailand’s support for efforts to bring about sustainable peace in Myanmar and closer economic cooperation within ASEAN amid global economic uncertainties.
