(AseanAll) — Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), made his first official visit to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam from 16 to 18 September 2025.
At the Headquarters of the Ministry of National Defence of Viet Nam, the RBAF Commander was welcomed with an Honorary Salute and inspected the Guard of Honour mounted by personnel from the Viet Nam People’s Army.
Following the parade inspection, the RBAF Commander made a goodwill call to General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of General Staff, Viet Nam People’s Army and Deputy Minister of National Defence of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to reinforcing bilateral defence ties and expanding collaborative opportunities to promote regional peace and stability.
Accompanying the RBAF Commander during this call was Pengiran Mohammad Saiful Bahri bin Pengiran Haji Mohammad Jofray, Chargés D'affaires, Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
During his visit to Hanoi, Viet Nam, the RBAF Commander also toured significant cultural and historical landmarks and several units under the Viet Nam People’s Army. He and his delegation attended an official dinner hosted by the General Nguyen Tan Cuong.
Previously, Nguyen Tan Cuong made an official visit to Brunei Darussalam from 3 to 6 November 2022.
This visit underscores Brunei Darussalam's commitment to strengthening bilateral defence relations, founded on shared interests in regional peace, stability, and prosperity, and reflect the amicable defence ties established since February 1992. Further enhancing this partnership, a memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in selected defence was signed between the Ministry of Defence Brunei Darussalam and the Ministry of National Defence of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam was signed in Ha Noi, Socialist Republuc of Viet Nam on 16 November 2005.
