(AseanAll) — The 22nd ASEAN Military Intelligence Meeting (22nd AMIM) successfully concluded on the 8 September 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The meeting, held from 6 to 9 September 2025, was hosted by the Malaysian Defence Intelligence Organisation, Malaysian Armed Forces and focused on the theme “Sustainable Intelligence Cooperation for an Inclusive ASEAN.”

The meeting chaired by Yang Mulia Lieutenant General Dato’ Mohd Razali bin Alias, Director General Defence Intelligence, Malaysian Defence Intelligence Organisation, brought together heads of military intelligence from ASEAN member states. The delegation from Brunei Darussalam was led by Yang Mulia Colonel (U) Pengiran Haji Mohammed Hasreen bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, Director of Intelligence at the Ministry of Defence.
Prior to the main meeting, the 2nd ASEAN Military Intelligence Community Leaders’ Conference (2nd AMICLC) meeting convened on 7 September 2025. Following the conference, the delegation proceeded with bilateral meetings, while a staff officers’ session discussed the Joint Statement for the ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces Meeting (ACDFM), reaffirming the collective commitment to regional unity, security, and prosperity among ASEAN member states.
During the 22nd AMIM, participants engaged in constructive dialogue on shared security concerns affecting the region. Discussions highlighted the importance of strengthening ASEAN military intelligence cooperation and collaboration to address emerging threats and enhancing military intelligence capabilities.
The meeting concluded with a ceremonial handover, marking the transition of chairmanship from Malaysia to the Republic of the Philippines, which will host the 23rd AMIM and 3rd AMICLC in 2026. This transition underscores the continued commitment to regional cooperation and the strengthening of military intelligence ties within ASEAN.
