(AseanAll)  — On 6th September, 2025, Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Xiao Jianguo was invited to attend the Celebration of Fifth Anniversary of the Founding of the Brunei Chinese Calligraphy and Chinese Painting Culture Society.

Xiao Jianguo spoke highly of the Society since its founding 5 years ago, for steadfastly upholding its mission to promote Chinese traditional culture using calligraphy and painting as bridge. He noted the Society’s role in fostering mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and Brunei, establishing itself as a shining example of people-to-people exchanges between the two nations. 

Xiao Jianguo introduced the Global Governance Initiative put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping recently and the President’s important address at the Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, emphasizing that China is willing to work with all sectors in Brunei, including the Chinese community, to firmly stand on the right side of history, promote fair and reasonable global governance, enhance the cultural exchanges and work together to build a community with a shared future for humanity.

The Society’s President Richard Jong Ching Sheng expressed the Society’s continued commitment to preserving Chinese traditional culture and fostering closer cultural ties and mutual understanding between the peoples of Brunei and China.
