Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen Sends a Strong Message to Thai former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra

Phnom Penh, July 20 (AseanAll)  — Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen has sent a strong message to Thai former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, reminding him that he had relied on Hun Sen for 19 years.

In a social media post on July 20, 2025, Hun Sen stated:

“I would like to remind Thaksin again that I am the one who does not want to talk to him, ever since his daughter insulted and looked down on me. Moreover, I also have no intention of speaking with someone who has a criminal record and is preparing to face more charges. So, don’t think too highly of yourself because talking to you is of no benefit to me!

As for my observation, since Thaksin got involved in Thai politics, Thailand has been in deep turmoil, especially since the 2006 coup. I also do not wish to bring up your harsh insults against the Thai King, as those were highly offensive and inappropriate for me to mention, for they only harm the dignity of the Thai monarchy and yet you have admitted that they were true.

A few days ago, you said that Cambodian leaders lack morality. This is a serious insult, just like your daughter’s insult toward the Cambodian leader, calling him unprofessional, which caused outrage among the Cambodian people.

I want to ask you: if I lack morality, why have you relied on me for 19 years (2006–2025), following my advice and even calling me ‘Leader No. 1’?

Do you still remember the formation of the Pheu Thai Party to participate in the 2011 elections? Apart from some ideas, there is also a theory known as “Thaksin thinks, Pheu Thai does,” which is, in fact, Hun Sen’s theory — something I should remind you of.

There are still many things I have not mentioned, including the appointments of government officials.

The accusation that you lead the Pheu Thai Party is true, including the betrayal involving Bhumjaithai, which were all your ideas, not Ung Ing’s.”
