Kuala Lumpur, June 18 (AseanAll) — The President of the Republic of Timor-Leste, J. Ramos-Horta, accompanied by an official delegation, arrived on June 16, 2025 at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 4:30 PM. Upon arrival, the delegation was received directly by Timor-Leste’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Lisualdo Gaspar, proceeding immediately to the St. Regis Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
On June 18, The Head of State is participating in the Global Leadership & Dialogue Initiative (GLDI) International Forum, which takes place in the Malaysian capital. His presence at this event symbolizes the ongoing commitment to promoting peace, social justice, and ethics in leadership at the global level. President Ramos-Horta is the keynote speaker, and his speech addressed Timor-Leste’s experience and its perspective on humanistic leadership and constructive international dialogue.
The event also includes the launch of the book “Anwar Ibrahim: Global Justice and Peace Through Dialogue,” authored by Yusmadi Yusoff, who is also President of the RIGHTS Foundation. The session features the presence of various prominent public and political figures, including Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, former Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, current member of the Malaysian Parliament, and wife of Malaysia’s Prime Minister.
The program also includes an official fellowship dinner with Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Malaysia is recognized as a strategic partner within the ASEAN context and a long-standing supporter of Timor-Leste’s development process.
