Timor-Leste President Discussed Progress in Establishing The Supreme Court of Justice

Dili, June 12(AseanAll)  —The President of the Republicof Timor-Leste , J. Ramos-Horta discussed with Afonso Carmona, President of the Court of Appeal, the significant steps being taken to establish a Supreme Court of Justice in Timor-Leste.

Afonso Carmona detailed the plans for a public seminar scheduled for June 30, which will serve as a crucial platform to gather public opinion and disseminate information about the proposed Supreme Court. This public consultation is a vital component to ensure a transparent and inclusive approach to this important judicial development, fostering greater understanding and support.

The discussion also addressed the comprehensive preparations underway, including legislative considerations and human resource development for the new institution. President Ramos-Horta was also informed about ongoing processes relating to pending judicial cases, with assurances that these are being actively managed.
