Malaysia welcomes joint statement by donor countries on Gaza

Putrajaya,May 22 (AseanAll) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia issued a press release on May 22, stating that Malaysia welcomes the joint statement issued by the foreign ministers of 23 Palestinian donor countries on May 19, 2025, which calls for the immediate and full resumption of humanitarian aid to Gaza and condemns Israel's continued obstruction of life-saving assistance.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia said that this collective stand represents a critical step in breaking the prolonged silence on the worst humanitarian catastrophe in modern history.

Malaysia opposes any act to inflict mass starvation and the use of humanitarian aid as a weapon of war. The international community must act with unity to compel Israel to comply with international law and to guarantee unfettered access to essential food, water, and medical supplies.

Malaysia remains steadfast in its solidarity with the Palestinian people and reiterates its call for countries that have yet to recognise the State of Palestine, to do so immediately. Recognition is not merely symbolic, it is a necessary step towards ending decades of occupation and restoring the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, dignity, and peace. Without political will, there can be no solution, only continued cycles of violence and suffering.
