Indonesian President Begins Thailand Visit with Royal Meeting, Bilateral Talks on Key Sectors

Bangkok, May 20 (AseanAll) — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on May 19, 2025 commenced a series of official visit in Thailand by holding a meeting with King of Thailand H.M. Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen of Thailand H.M. Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana, at Amphorn Royal Palace, Bangkok.

The meeting served as a symbol of the long-standing ties between Indonesia and Thailand, which have endured for over seven decades. It also reflected the historical and strategic relations of the two countries as fellow members of ASEAN.

During the meeting, the two leaders reiterated their commitment to enhancing collaborations in various strategic fields.

In the bilateral meeting with Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra,  Prabowo Subianto expressed his highest appreciation for a warm welcome from King and Queen of Thailand. He also reflected on the close personal bond he shares with His Majesty the King of Thailand.

“As you may be aware, His Majesty the King and I have met on several occasions in the past, as we are both veterans who first met in our younger, fitter days. Today, we remain young at heart and strive to stay fit. It is such an honor for me to meet my old friend. Indeed, the ties between Indonesia and Thailand are deeply rooted in history and marked by a close friendship between us,” the President said.
