A variety of Yao ethnic traditions were part of the Liuyueliu (the sixth day on the sixth month of Chinese lunar calendar) festival celebration on Sunday(July 23) in Longsheng county, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region,China.
On this special day, the women of the Red Yao people in Dazhai village had a joyful gathering during which they showcased their red costumes, combed their long hair, demonstrated how to make folk costumes and held a mass wedding.
The Liuyueliu festival is also widely known as sun clothes day — a day that local women hang their brightly colored costumes, mostly red, in the sunlight by the window, creating a feast for the eyes.
