Members of the Seoul Metropolitan Dance Theatre on the morning of April 25, 2023 rehearse part of Ilmu (traditional line dance) during an open rehearsal at the practice room for dance companies of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Seoul's Jongno-gu District, South Korea.
Ilmu, which literally means "dance in unison," features movement aligned in straight rows and originated from Jongmyo Jeryeak, or royal music played at rituals that was designated National Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 1 in 1964.
The troupe on May 25 will begin four days of performances at the center's Grand Theater.(Yonhap)
