Vietnamese General Secretary To Lam hosts Kyrgyz Prime Minister

(AseanAll)  — General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam To Lam hosted a reception for the Kyrgyz Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev in Ha Noi on March 6,2025,according to Vietnamese government portal(VGP).

To Lam said that Viet Nam treasures the friendship with Kyrgyzstan, a traditional partner that has supported the Vietnamese people both in their past struggle for independence and ongoing development course.

He described this enduring friendship as a priceless asset built by the leaders and people of both countries, adding that there remain significant untapped potentials for the bilateral ties.

He called on the two sides to optimize the advantages of the Free Trade Agreement between Viet Nam and the Eurasian Economic Union.

In reply, Adylbek Kasymaliev said he is impressed by Viet Nam's remarkable socio-economic achievements and its growing international standing under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.

The two leaders agreed to enhance engagements at all levels through bilateral and multilateral channels to strengthen political trust, and establish cooperation mechanisms between ministries, sectors, and localities.

They were unanimous in promoting collaboration in security and defense, as well as strengthening transportation connectivity, including air and rail links, logistics.

Adylbek Kasymaliev paid an official visit to Viet Nam from March 6–7 at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The visit is expected to mark a new chapter in Vietnam-Kyrgyzstan relations, deepening their traditional friendship and unlocking cooperation potential in key sectors.

This is the first visit by a Kyrgyz government leader to Viet Nam since the two countries established diplomatic relations on June 4, 1992, serving as a catalyst for strengthening their traditional friendship and cooperation across various fields.

Economic and trade cooperation between the two nations has seen encouraging progress. The two-way trade turnover fetched US$ 4.5 million in 2022, US$7.5 million in 2023, and US$13.5 million in 2024.

Kyrgyzstan is among the few countries in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) region and the world to unilaterally grant Vietnamese citizens a 60-day visa exemption, facilitating greater business and tourism exchanges.
