Cambodia-Laos Working Groups Discuss Cross-Border Bridge Construction Project

Phnom Penh, January 18(AseanAll)  — The Cambodian and Lao working groups held on January 17, 2025 in Cambodia's Preah Vihear province their bilateral meeting on the possibility to construct Tonle Ropov-Selampao Bridge and connecting roads located in Preah Vihear province of Cambodia and Champasak province of Laos.

The Cambodian side was led by Leng Thunyuthea, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, while the Lao side was headed by Ardanada Bulome, Deputy Director General of the Roads Department of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

The meeting was aimed to examine the possibility of building the Tonle Sap-Selampao Bridge to connect the borders of the two countries after an agreement was reached by leaders of the two countries in December 2024.

The bilateral meeting in committed to promoting connectivity between the two neighbouring countries to boost trade, transport, tourism, security, culture, and regional integration.

The bridge will become a new historical achievement between both nations, based on the spirit of good neighbourliness and a border of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.
