Phnom Penh,November 8 (AseanAll) — The 3rd session of the 7th legislature of National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia has unanimously endorsed the draft law on approval of the cancellation of the Agreement on the Promotion and Facilitation of Trade in the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area (CLV-DTA).
The 109 lawmakers present at the parliamentary session, held here at the NA Palace on November 8,2024 under the chairmanship of Khuon Sudary, President of NA, voted for the four-article draft law.
Mrs. Cham Nimul, Cambodian Minister of Commerce, represented the Royal Government to defend the draft law at the NA session.
Under the close cooperation in the CLV-DTA framework in the past 25 years, the three neighbouring countries – Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam – have achieved their national goals, contributing to their economic development and their people’s living standard improvement, stated a press release of the NA General Secretariat issued after the parliamentary session.
Based on the said achievements and after thorough and comprehensive consideration and evaluation, the Royal Government concluded that the CLV-DTA cooperation had reached its goal and believed that each country has full capacity to continue and ensure its own development, the press release added.
At the same session, the NA also approved the validity of Ms. Yos Thaneary’s mandate as lawmaker for Kampong Thom constituency in replacement of late Chea Chanto.
