China’s new ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin assumes office in Cambodia

Phnom Penh, July 6 (AseanAll)  — On July 5, 2024, China’s new ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin arrived at the Phnom Penh International Airport flying Air China. He was welcomed by Mr. Sokha Phadora, Deputy Director of Protocol Department from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia and staff from the Chinese Embassy.

Wang Wenbin briefly addressed the press at the airport. 

Wang Wenbin said to become the 18th Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia carries both honour and responsibility. China and Cambodia enjoy a deep bond of traditional friendship. Chinese President Xi Jinping once quoted a Cambodian proverb, trust grows like a tree. Cambodian Late King Father Sihanouk also compared the friendship to a flower that never wither. The brotherhood of the two countries is deeply rooted in the hearts of the two peoples, and the ironclad friendship sets an example for all others. 

Wang said that he is ready to work closely with all Cambodian friends to take over the baton and carry forward the proud tradition of China-Cambodia friendship. He will unswervingly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, make untiring efforts to strenghthen the ironclad friendship, and push forward the China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era to deliver more tangibly for the people of both countries.

Mr. Sokha Phadora warmly welcomed Wang Wenbin for assuming office in Cambodia on behalf of the Cambodian side.

Later, Wang Wenbin arrived at the Embassy, following the Xi Jinping Boulevard, Hun Sen Boulevard, Preah Sihanouk Boulevard and Mao Tse Toung Boulevard, among others.
