Phnom Penh, February 15 (AseanAll) — Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia and visiting Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany discussed the bilateral cooperation in various domains during their official talks at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on February 15 .
According to AKP, the German president recalled Germany’s assistance to Cambodia mainly in mine clearance and conservation of ancient temples, and revealed its intention to expand and tighten the cooperation with Cambodia.
Frank-Walter Steinmeier lauded Hun Sen’s leadership in the country’s development, poverty alleviation, COVID-19 containment, socio-economic resumption, especially the successful hosting of the ASEAN Summits and Related Summits when the world was facing with COVID-19 crisis and geopolitical rivalries.
In reply, the Prime Minister thanked the German people and government for their assistance to Cambodia in mine clearance, culture and other sectors.
Hun Sen also informed his guest of Cambodia’s goal of becoming a mine-free nation by 2025 as well as the Kingdom’s contribution to mine-clearance operations in some countries under the UN umbrella and the training of Ukrainian deminers.
The Cambodian Premier encouraged both sides to boost their bilateral cooperation in climate change, energy, particularly investment and trade.
