Myanmar categorically rejects fraudulent, biased and unilateral statements

Nay pyi daw, February 5, 2023(AseanAll)— The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar issued a statement on February 4 that Myanmar firmly opposes fraudulent, biased and unilateral statements.

The statement said that since February 1, 2023 is the two-year term of the National Administrative Committee (SAC), some countries and some United Nations mandate holders issued non-constructive statements. These statements failed to reveal the actual perpetrators of the violence in Myanmar, but blamed the government that had been responding to the situation. In addition, these statements covered up the brutal crimes committed by the terrorist organizations NUG, CRPH and their subordinate PDF and misled the public. These organizations took the lives of more than 5000 unarmed civilians and civil servants.

The statement pointed out that the National Administrative Committee adopted the Five-Point Road Map, while fulfilling its national responsibilities and unswervingly implementing the road map. At the same time, the international community should, in accordance with the wishes of its people, contribute constructively to the efforts of the Government in the process of democratization, and respect the principle of the sovereign equality of Member States as stipulated in the Charter of the United Nations, rather than make statements that only aggravate violence and destruction.

In addition, during the whole election process of the 2020 general election, the government proved the fraud and abuse of power of the authorities at that time, and has been making efforts to enable all ethnic brothers to vote nationwide without leaving any area unaccounted for. Elections are the foundation and prerequisite of a true democratic system. It is inconsistent to observe the practice of some countries and United Nations mandate holders. Although they call for the restoration of democracy in Myanmar, they condemn the efforts of the Government to hold free and fair elections.

In terms of humanitarian assistance, Myanmar has been cooperating with and facilitating the work of the ASEAN Disaster Management Humanitarian Assistance Coordination Centre (AHA) and United Nations agencies, the statement said,”In fact, since United Nations agencies have established field presences in many states and regions of the country, the issue of access should not be raised first.“

The statement said that recognizing the efforts of the Government to maintain national peace and stability and the prevalence of democracy through the five-point road map is crucial for Myanmar to return to normal. Myanmar categorically rejects all unethical and irresponsible statements and acts of some ultra vires United Nations mandate holders and countries that interfere in Myanmar's internal affairs because they have clearly failed to comply with the purposes and principles of the United Nations.
