Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto: Indonesia is No Longer a Sleeping Giant

Jakarta, April 9 (AseanAll)  — Indonesia will emerge as a major global power grounded in self-reliance and the effective use of its abundant national resources, according to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

The President made this statement during the inauguration of PT VTKR Sakti Industries’ commercial electric vehicle assembly facility in Magelang regency, Central Java province, on April 9, 2026.

The President remarked that Indonesia has a very strong foundation to face global challenges, particularly in the energy sector and emphasized that the country’s abundant natural resources are a key asset for moving forward with optimism amidst global uncertainty.

“We must remain vigilant yet optimistic. We will face challenges in the coming months, but we have very strong and abundant resources. Even so, we must conserve energy, and above all, we must transition toward clean, renewable energy,” he said.

The President also stressed that achieving self-sufficiency in both food and energy is an absolute prerequisite  for Indonesia to survive and continue to grow as a great nation.

“For a country as big as ours to remain independent and to survive, we must be self-reliant in the most defining sectors, ultimately food and energy,” he said.

Furthermore, the Head of State delivered an optimistic message to the public, especially the younger generation, affirming that Indonesia’s future is very bright and full of hope and stressing that pessimistic views do not reflect the reality of the country’s true strength.

“Indonesia is not in the dark. Indonesia is very bright. We are very strong and getting stronger, and our growth is solid. For our young people, the future is bright,” he said, adding that Indonesia is entering a revival era, rising to become a global force to be reckoned with.

“Next year, we will surprise the whole world. Indonesia is rising. This giant is waking up; we will no longer be a sleeping giant. We are on the rise,” he remarked.

This inauguration is a powerful symbol that Indonesia is not only moving forward, but also sprinting toward a strategic position on the world stage as a rising giant that is confident, independent, and ready to lead the future.
