(AseanAll) — Timor-Leste President of the Republic, J. Ramos-Horta, held his regular consultative meeting with Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace on March 26, 2026 to discuss ongoing national affairs.

During the briefing, the Prime Minister updated the Head of State on recent government initiatives, specifically detailing the new and ongoing recruitment processes within the National Police of Timor-Leste (PNTL).

Furthermore, Xanana Gusmão informed the President of a recent resolution passed by the Council of Ministers aimed at safeguarding the nation’s economic stability. The government is establishing a dedicated commission tasked with monitoring global petroleum prices and implementing strategies to guarantee an uninterrupted domestic fuel supply for the next six months, ensuring no shortages for the population.
Following their bilateral meeting, Ramos-Horta assumed his constitutional role to preside over a session of the Superior Council of Defense and Security (CSDS). Attended by the Prime Minister and other key state officials, the high-level meeting focused on various strategic national security and defense matters, the specific details of which remain classified to protect state interests.
