Bangkok, February 17 (AseanAll) — On February 15, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Zhang Jianwei and his wife Miao Haiyan attended a special performance of "Happy Chinese New Year" Chinese Cultural Center in Bangkok.
More than 300 guests, including Mr.Phinij Jarusombat, former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand and Chairman of the Thai-China Cultural Promotion Association; Ms.Ranee Itharat, Thai Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture; and Ms.Thapanee Kiatpaiboon, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand enjoyed the performance.

Zhang Jianwei delivered a speech offering New Year's greetings and stated that "China and Thailand are as close as one family", and encouraged frequent exchanges and visits to each other's countries to experience the diverse landscapes and cultures that foster harmony amidst diversity and strengthen ties. Ms.Ranee Itharat expressed her deep appreciation for the Chinese New Year as a vital link connecting Thai and Chinese friendship. Ms.Thapanee Kiatpaiboon believed the performance showcased the profound heritage and diverse charm of Chinese culture.

The performance opened with vocal programs from the China National Opera House, followed by "Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix" and "Horse Racing," showcasing the excellent skills of the suona and erhu, the exhilarating Shaolin Kung Fu, and equally wonderful dance and magic performances.
An intangible cultural heritage exhibition was held on site, where visitors could write the character "福" (fortune), make fish lanterns, and rub New Year pictures, immersing themselves in the charm of traditional Chinese culture.
