The Chinese community in Myanmar hosts Spring Festival celebration in Yangon

Yangon, February 15 (AseanAll)  — On February 14,2026, the Chinese community in Myanmar hosted a Spring Festival(Chinese New Year) celebration at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar. 

The event was attended by over 1,500 guests, including Myanmar State Security and Peace Commission Vice-Chairman, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Vice-Senior General Soe Win , Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ma Jia, diplomats from various countries in Myanmar, members of the Chinese community, representatives of Chinese enterprises, and friends from all sectors of society.

Soe Win extended Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese community in Myanmar, highlighting the profound "pauk-phaw" friendship between Myanmar and China and the deepening cooperation across various fields. He expressed gratitude to China for its assistance in earthquake relief efforts and support for Myanmar’s peace process. The Myanmar side reaffirmed its commitment to the one-China policy and expressed the hope of advancing further cooperation with China following the formation of the new government.

Ma Jia noted that under the guidance of high-level leadership, China-Myanmar relations reached a new level in 2025, with the enduring "pauk-phaw" friendship between the two countries growing ever stronger. She commended the active participation of the Chinese community in Myanmar in earthquake relief efforts, which vividly demonstrated the spirit of the China-Myanmar community with a shared future. She expressed hope that the overseas Chinese community will continue to serve as a bridge and bond between the two countries and contribute to writing a new chapter in China-Myanmar friendship.

Guests visited the Spring Festival cultural fair and enjoyed a variety of performances, including singing, dancing, martial arts, and chinlone demonstrations.
