Jakarta, February 10 (AseanAll) — On 10 February, 2026, Wang Qing, Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN attended the China Conference Southeast Asia hosted by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) in Jakarta and delivered a keynote address.

The event was graced by Mr. C Y Leung, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and brought together more than 500 participants including representatives from government, business, academia and investment promotion agencies from China and ASEAN countries.
Wang Qing emphasized that China has consistently placed ASEAN at the forefront of its neighborhood diplomacy. Economic and trade cooperation between the two sides remains robust and fruitful. The signing of the China ASEAN Free Trade Area 3.0 Upgrade Protocol provides strong new impetus to regional economic integration. At a time when unilateralism and protectionism are exerting increasing pressure on global trade and investment, China remains firmly committed to free trade and multilateralism. China stands ready to share the opportunities created by Chinese modernization with ASEAN partners and to work together toward building a closer China–ASEAN community with a shared future.

This year marks the first year of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, as well as the fifth anniversary of the China–ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the 35th anniversary of dialogue relations. China is prepared to work with ASEAN to further align development strategies and achieve more concrete outcomes in key areas such as digital empowerment, green transformation, supply chain resilience, and people-to-people exchanges, jointly contributing to lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
