Thai PM attends reception to celebrate 66th birthday anniversary of Emperor of Japan and Japan’s National Day

Bangkok, February 12 (AseanAll)  — On February 12, 2026,  at the Plenary Hall, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul attended the reception held on the occasion of birthday anniversary of  the Emperor of Japan. He was welcomed by Otaka Masato, Ambassador of Japan to Thailand.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister extended congratulations on the 66th birthday anniversary of the Emperor of Japan and on Japan’s National Day, on behalf of the Government and the people of Thailand to wish for the Emperor’s continued good health, happiness, and long reign. The Prime Minister also conveyed goodwill to the Japanese people for peace, stability, and prosperity.

He commended close and long-standing relations between Thailand and Japan based on trust and deep mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries. Amidst a rapidly changing global context, this profound and resilient partnership spans all levels, from close ties between the Thai and Japanese royal families to strong cooperation between Governments, the private sector, and people of both countries.

In the context of an increasingly complex global landscape, Thailand and Japan stand together in support of an open, rules‑based regional order, while promoting security and stability in the Indo‑Pacific for shared prosperity. Both countries continue to expand cooperation into new areas, i.e., digital innovation, AI, green energy, and resilient supply chains, in a bid to lay the foundation for a sustainable and dynamic future for people of the two countries.

On occasion of the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Japan in 2027, both countries are committed to carrying forward this proud legacy of cooperation and continuing working together in further advancing strategic partnership. He extended congratulations to Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi of Japan on her recent electoral victory, and reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to work closely with the Japanese Government to deepen collaboration in all dimensions. He expressed hope for an early meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister to continue strengthening bilateral ties and to share mutual appreciation of music.

In conclusion, the Prime Minister invited distinguished guests to rise and join in offering felicitations to His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, as a gesture of the lasting friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries, and in the spirit of prosperity, stability, and well‑being for the peoples. He called upon everyone to offer a toast to His Majesty the Emperor of Japan with the traditional exclamation, “Banzai.”
