Bangkok, February 12 (AseanAll) — On February 11, 2026, at the Embassy of People’s Republic of China to Thailand, Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, together with Ms. Thananon Niramit, spouse, attended the 2026 Chinese New Year Celebration, upon the invitation of Ambassador Zhang Jianwei.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister and spouse attended traditional Chinese folk performances, i.e., Yingge dance, lion dance, and cultural performances celebrating the Chinese New Year. They also visited an exhibition showcasing Chinese folk culture, the eye-dotting ceremony of the lion, a ritual symbolizing people’s happiness, prosperity, and stability, and highlighting the enduring friendship and close ties between Thailand and China.
The Prime Minister, then, delivered an opening remark at the Chinese New Year celebration banquet under the theme “Embracing the Chinese New Year” in Mandarin. He expressed gratitude, on behalf of the Thai people, to President Xi Jinping and the people of China for their warm welcome during the recent state visit of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen to the People’s Republic of China. He also extended appreciation to Ambassador Zhang Jianwei for his gracious hospitality and invitation to attend this reception.
The Prime Minister underscored tight-knitted relations between the two countries, as said “中泰一家亲”, and wished Chinese Thais and all the Chinese people happiness and good fortune, and wished for everlasting friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
