(AseanAll) — On February 5, 2026, the inaugural event "Spring Festival @ ASEAN Headquarters" was held at the ASEAN Secretariat. Wang Qing, Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN, was present with senior officials of the ASEAN Secretariat, diplomatic envoys of ASEAN countries and external partners of ASEAN, as well as representatives from think tanks, media, and universities.

Wang Qing said that celebrating the Spring Festival together serves as a vivid example of the close people-to-people bonds between China and ASEAN. The year 2026 marks the 5th anniversary of China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. China stands ready to continue to strengthen people-to-people exchanges with ASEAN, deepen cooperation in various fields, and jointly build a peaceful, safe and secure, prosperous, beautiful and amicable home and a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.

Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN and Ambassador Sarah Devadason, Permanent Representative of Malaysia to ASEAN as the country coordinator for ASEAN-China relations, delivered their congratulatory remarks. They noted that the Spring Festival embodies the profound cultural and emotional bonds between China and ASEAN, and the ASEAN members are looking forward to a vigorous development of ASEAN-China relations in the Year of the Horse.
The event was hosted by governmental departments of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The splendid performances and exhibitions of Spring Festival culture received high praises from the guests.
