On February 9, 2026, the Chinese Embassy in Timor-Leste hosted Chinese Spring Festival Cultural Gala themed “Celebrating Chinese Spring Festival Together.” 

Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste Wang Wenli, Timor-Leste President José Ramos-Horta, President of National Parliament Fernanda Lay, and other senior officials and representatives from various sectors, as well as members of the Chinese community and representatives of Chinese Enterprises, attended the gala.

Ambassador Wang Wenli extended her Spring Festival greetings for the Year of the Horse to the guests and introduced the cultural significance of the Chinese Spring Festival. She spoke positively of the sound development of the China–Timor-Leste Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and expressed China’s readiness to work with all sectors of Timor-Leste to deepen practical cooperation and continuously achieve new outcomes in bilateral relations.

President José Ramos-Horta thanked the Chinese community for its important contributions to Timor-Leste’s social and economic development, spoke highly of China’s long-standing support and assistance to Timor-Leste, and commended the spirit of the Belt and Road Initiative for bringing opportunities to the country’s infrastructure development and modernization. He expressed his expectation that the two countries would further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in the Year of the Horse and elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to a new level.

Artists from Guangxi, China, presented cultural performances. Guests celebrated the Spring Festival together and renewed friendship in a warm and joyful atmosphere.
