Thai Foreign Minister meets with Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary General on Myanmar

(AseanAll)  — On 22 January 2026, Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with Ms. Julie Bishop, Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary General on Myanmar, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland.

Both sides exchanged views on the situation in Myanmar, including the holding of elections and support for the peace process in Myanmar. 

The Foreign Minister reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to serve as a bridge between Myanmar and the international community. Thailand also seeks to promote ASEAN’s re-engagement with Myanmar in order to advance genuine dialogue.
