(AseanAll)  — On January 22, 2026, The President of the Republic of Timor-Leste, J. Ramos-Horta, participated in a High-Level Diplomatic Dialogue on Myanmar, held at the Congress Centre on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos.

The session brought together a distinguished panel of global leaders and experts, including United Nations Special Envoy Julie Bishop, former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, and representatives from leading international organizations, including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the World Food Programme. The meeting served as a strategic platform to analyze the complex humanitarian and political crisis currently unfolding in Myanmar.

The dialogue focused on identifying concrete pathways toward peace, stability, and national reconciliation in Myanmar. Participants examined the deep implications of the crisis for ASEAN and broader regional security, highlighting the need for coordinated and effective international action. By bringing together representatives from government, the United Nations, and civil society, the session sought to articulate different perspectives on restoring democratic norms, protecting human rights, and ensuring food security for the people of Myanmar.

Through his participation in this high-level panel, Ramos-Horta reaffirmed Timor-Leste’s steadfast commitment to preventive diplomacy and multilateralism. Drawing from Timor-Leste’s own historical experience with national reconciliation, the Head of State highlighted the country’s active role in promoting regional stability and trust. This engagement reinforces Timor-Leste’s position as a committed voice in the defense of peace, human rights, and international cooperation within the Southeast Asian region.
