Putrajaya, January 21 (AseanAll) — Malaysia condemns in the strongest terms Israel’s incursion into the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and the demolition of its premises in Sheikh Jarrah, East Jerusalem on 20 January 2026, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia on January 21.
Israel has a legal obligation under international law to facilitate, without obstruction, humanitarian relief efforts by UN entities, particularly UNRWA, as well as by international organisations and Member States; to protect all humanitarian and medical personnel; and to uphold the privileges, immunities, and inviolability of the UN, its premises, property, and officials, as reaffirmed by the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice dated 22 October 2025.
Malaysia calls on the international community to hold Israel accountable for the continuing serious violation of international law, including the UN Charter, the 1946 UN Convention on the Privileges and Immunities, and relevant UN resolutions. This impunity must end.
