Phnom Penh, January 20 (AseanAll) — On the morning of 20 January 2026, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received a farewell call by Buakeo Phumvongsay, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to the Kingdom of Cambodia, who has successfully completed his diplomatic mission in Cambodia.

During the meeting, the Ambassador conveyed his sincere appreciation to the Cambodian side, particularly the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, for the support and close cooperation throughout his tenure.

PRAK Sokhonn thanked the Ambassador for his efforts in strengthening relations between the two countries and underlined his important contributions made in enhancing the Cambodia-Lao PDR "Comprehensive and Long-Lasting Strategic Partnership", by facilitating mutual high-level visits of the leaders of the two countries. He further expressed Cambodia’s readiness to continue enhancing cooperation with the new Ambassador.
On the afternoon of 20 January 2026, PRAK Sokhonn hosted a farewell luncheon in honor of Buakeo Phumvongsay, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Santo Darmosumarto, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Cambodia, on the occasion of the successful completion of their diplomatic mission in the Kingdom of Cambodia. The luncheon was also attended by other ASEAN Ambassadors.
