Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) receiveds courtesy call from Chief of Navy of Singapore Navy

(AseanAll)  — Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) received a courtesy call from Rear Admiral Sean Wat Jianwen, Chief of Navy, Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) on 14 January 2026. 

Also present were Commander of Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and Director of Intelligence.

During the call, the RBAF Commander extended a warm welcome to Rear Admiral Sean Wat Jianwen at the Ministry of Defence, emphasising the significance of the 50th anniversary of defence cooperation between the RBAF and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).

The RBAF Commander recognises the enduring bilateral relationship between the RBN and the Singapore Navy, fostered through regular exchange visits, training and exercises, exhibitions and meetings. He highlighted the crucial role of asset transfers, particularly the integration of retired RSN ships into the RBN fleet, in strengthening maritime security, improving interoperability, and fostering regional stability. Commander RBAF hopes that RBN and the RSN will continue to work together to maintain this strong defence relations.

Rear Admiral Sean Wat Jianwen is in Brunei Darussalam for an official visit from 12th until 15th January 2026.
