Cambodia-Thailand RGB Secretariat Meeting Convened in Oddar Meanchey to Strengthen Joint Statement Implementation

Phnom Penh, January 15 (AseanAll)  — The Secretariat of the Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) held a meeting on January 15, 2026 at the Choam-Sangam International Point of Entry in Anlong Veng district, Oddar Meanchey province, Cambodia, according to the Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia.

The meeting took place between Military Region 4 of the Cambodian side and Army Area 2 of the Thai side. The Cambodian delegation was led by Brigadier General Nit Narong, Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 4, while the Thai delegation was headed by Major General Kampanat Waphansu, Chief of Staff of Army Area 2.

During the meeting, both sides discussed a number of important issues aimed at strengthening the implementation of the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) held on Dec. 27, 2025, as well as other relevant documents.

In a statement issued by Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia, the Ministry reaffirmed Cambodia’s firm, resolute, and sincere commitment to fully respect and implement the Joint Statement of the 3rd GBC Special Meeting, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand dated Oct. 26, 2025, and other relevant agreements.

The Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia stressed that these efforts are aimed at achieving a peaceful, just, and lasting solution in accordance with international law, as well as existing treaties and agreements between the two countries.
