Beijing, January 5 (AseanAll) — Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met with a delegation led by Desmond Lee, Chairman of the People's Action Party (PAP) and Minister for Education of Singapore in Beijing on January 5th,2026.

Liu welcomed Lee, who led a PAP delegation to visit China at the beginning of the New Year. Liu noted, in recent years, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and Singaporean leaders, China-Singapore relations have progress steadily, enjoying comprehensive, high-quality, and forward-looking development. Exchanges between the ruling parties of China and Singapore have played a vital role in promoting the development of bilateral relations. The CPC is willing to work with the PAP to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen institutionalized exchanges, enhance strategic communication, firmly support each other on issues involving core interests and major concerns, deepen exchanges and mutual learning on state governance and administration, intensify youth exchanges, promote pragmatic cooperation in various fields through the "political party+" channel, strengthen multilateral coordination, better contribute to the cause of the respective parties and the development of bilateral relations, and contribute wisdom and strength to regional peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
Lee said, sharing a long-standing friendship, Singapore and China have established an all-round high-quality future-oriented partnership, and enjoy frequent high-level exchanges and fruitful cooperation in various fields. The PAP attaches great importance to its friendly relations with the CPC. Both sides adhere to a future-oriented approach and uphold the philosophies of putting people first and exercise power for the people. Singapore is willing to work with China to leverage the institutionalized exchanges between the two Parties, strengthen mutual learning and exchange on cadre training and primary-level party building, promote people-to-people, cultural, youth, and local exchanges and cooperation, and continuously strive for new progress in bilateral relations. Singapore firmly adheres to the one-China policy, opposes "Taiwan independence", and is willing to strengthen multilateral communication and coordination with China to jointly safeguard multilateralism and the international order.

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common interest.
Sun Haiyan, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, Janil Puthucheary, Party Whip of the PAP and Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, Sim Ann, Member of the Central Executive Committee of the PAP and Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Tan Kiat How, Assistant Organising Secretary of the PAP and Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Digital Development and Information and the Ministry of Health, Peter Tan Hai Chuan, Singaporean Ambassador to China, and others, were present.
