Bangkok, December 11 (AseanAll)  — On December 11, 2025,  at the Government House, Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development of Malaysia, paid a courtesy call on Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul on occasion of his visit to Thailand to attend the 14th ASEAN Ministers Meeting on the Rural Development and Poverty Eradication and Related Meetings (AMRDPE), held during December 10-12, 2025.  

The Thai Prime Minister welcomed and expressed pleasure to meet with the Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister. He hoped that AMRDPE, which was hosted by the Thai Ministry of Interior, came out successful.

The Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister expressed appreciation toward the Prime Minister and the Thai Government for promptly facilitating the repatriation of Malaysian tourists during the recent flood disaster in the South, whereas the Prime Minister hoped for their return to Thailand soon. With the increasing number of flights between the two countries nearly reaching the normal level, the Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister expressed confidence that tourism activities will soon be revived.

The two parties took the opportunity to exchange views on different matters. With regard to the Southern flood disaster which affected both Thais and Malaysians, the Thai Prime Minister emphasized the Government’s effort to provide relief to affected victims, and was of the view that Thailand and Malaysia should increase cooperation and integrate effort in undertaking water management in an efficient manner to prevent any future losses and damages.

Both parties came to terms on enhancing cooperation in Halal product export. They also agreed on the exchange of vocational students, knowhow and technology. Anti-narcotics cooperation was also discussed to address the problem in a tangible manner.
