China and India Hold a New Round of Consultations between Officials of Foreign Ministries

Beijing, December 11 (AseanAll)  — On December 11, 2025, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong and Joint Secretary of the East Asia Division of the Ministry of External Affairs of India Sujit Ghosh held a new round of consultations between officials of the Chinese and Indian foreign ministries in Beijing.

The two sides affirmed the recent positive progress in China-India relations and expressed their commitment to fully implementing the important common understandings reached between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their meeting in Tianjin. 

The two sides pledged to promote bilateral exchanges, resume institutional dialogue, properly handle differences and sensitive issues, strengthen communication and coordination in multilateral mechanisms and international and regional affairs, uphold multilateralism, advocate for a multipolar world, safeguard the common interests of the Global South, and expand the positive aspects of bilateral relations. 

Both sides positively evaluated the timeliness, efficiency, and good atmosphere of this round of consultations, with substantial consensus reached.

On the sme day, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong had a courtesy meeting in Beijing with Joint Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs of India Sujit Ghosh, who came to China for the consultations between officials of the Chinese and Indian foreign ministries.

Sun Weidong said that in August this year, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Inidian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a successful meeting in Tianjin, China, providing guidance on elevating China-India relations to a new level. 

Sun Weidong expressed the hope that both sides will effectively deliver on the important common understandings reached between the leaders of the two countries, embrace a broader vision, build mutual trust, make solid efforts, work steadily to advance cooperation, respect each other, properly manage differences, and promote the continuous development of China-India relations.

Sujit Ghosh said that India-China relations are very important. India is willing to work together with China, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, to resume institutional dialogue, strengthen exchanges and cooperation, and consolidate the development momentum of India-China relations.
