Kuala Lumpur,, December 13 (AseanAll) — On 9 December, 2025, Ambassador Shi Zhongjun, Secretary General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), was invited to visit the Parliament of Malaysia and observe a session of the Senate, and received a warm welcome from the Malaysian Parliament.

Dato Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah, President of the Senate of Malaysia solemnly introduced the delegation led by Shi Zhongjun to the members of parliament. He highly praised 2025 ASEAN-China Week organized by the ACC in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China, thanked the ACC for the warm reception and thoughtful arrangements extended to the Malaysian side, and appreciated ACC’s efforts to advance practical cooperation between Malaysia, ASEAN with China.

Shi Zhongjun also met with President Dato Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah and Datuk Nur Jazlan bin Tan Sri Mohamed, Deputy President of the Senate among others. They said their participation in the ASEAN-China Week in Fujian was deeply impressive. In particular, the visit to Ningde made them deeply feel that the poverty alleviation experiences of China under the leadership of President Xi Jinping are worthy of Malaysia's learning. Meanwhile, China has made rapid progress in scientific and technological innovation, where Malaysia should further strengthen cooperation with China.

During the visit to the Parliament, Shi Zhongjun also exchanged brief greetings with Tan Sri Dato' Johari Bin Abdul, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malaysia, Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Minister of Defence, and other dignitaries.
