Bandar Seri Begawan, November 26 (AseanAll)  — On November 25, 2025, Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Xiao Jianguo paid a farewell audience with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam at Istana Nurul Iman in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Xiao Jianguo conveyed Chinese President XiJinping's greetings to the Sultan, noting that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Brunei relations have entered a new phase of working towards the China-Brunei community with a shared future. He highlighted that the two countries have achieved fruitful cooperation across various fields, bringing tangible benefits to their peoples.

The Ambassador presented the Sultan with the English edition of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China, Volume V, and briefed on the fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committeeof the Communist Party of China, stating that China's high-quality development and high-standard opening up will bring more development opportunities and broader cooperation prospects for Brunei and other countries.

With next year marking the 35th anniversary of China-Brunei diplomatic relations, China stands ready to implementthe important consensus reached by the two heads of state, deepen high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and promote further progress in building of theChina-Brunei community with a shared future,said Xiao Jianguo.

The Sultan spoke highly of Ambassador Xiao’s contributions to the development of Brunei-China relations, andstressed his appreciation for the sincere friendship with Chinese President Xi Jinping. 

The Sultan also expressed his expectation that Brunei and China could take the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to deepen cooperation across various fields and to lift bilateral relations to a new height.
