Fuzhou,November 17 (AseanAll) — On November 17,2025, the 2025 ASEAN-China Week opened in Fuzhou, Fujian Province,China with children’s choir from 11 ASEAN countries and China. Co-hosted by the ASEAN-China Centre and the People’s Government of Fujian Province, the event is themed “A Shared Future: Aligning ASEAN’s Community Vision 2045 with China’s Modernization”.

Over 400 participants attended the opening ceremony, including more than 30 senior officials at or above the vice-ministerial level from ASEAN countries and international organizations, including Dato Awang Bemee Ali Basah, President of the Senate of Malaysia, Datuk Nur Jazlan bin Tan Sri Mohamed, Deputy President of the Senate of Malaysia, Yorrys Raweyai, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Ko Ko Hlaing, Union Minister of President Office of Myanmar, Johariah Wahab, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brunei, Chuon Chivin, State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of Cambodia, Phongsavath Sisoulath, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos, Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Nararya Soeprapto, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, and Mr. Zhang Jun, Secretary-General of the Boao Forum for Asia. Chinese representatives included Zhou Zuyi, Secretary of the Fujian Provincial Committee, Zhao Long, Governor of Fujian Province, Guo Ningning, Deputy Secretary of the Fujian Provincial Committee and Secretary of the Fuzhou Municipal Party Committee, Ambassador Wu Hailong, President of the China Public Diplomacy Association, as well as officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Natural Resources. Ambassador Shi Zhongjun, Secretary General of the ASEAN-China Centre, delivered an opening speech and hosted the session of keynote speeches.
Shi Zhongjun emphasized that world challenges are not obstacles to cooperation, but opportunities to urge ASEAN and China to strengthen cohesion and cooperation. As long as ASEAN and China work together, we can contribute our solutions to the turbulent world and create a more open and prosperous future for the Asia-Pacific and the world at large.

Zhou Zuyi stated that Fujian has a profound friendly connection with ASEAN. Fujian will implement the four Global Initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping, strengthen cooperation with ASEAN in infrastructure, institutional rules and people-to-people exchanges, to make new contributions to bridging the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and Chinese modernization.

Dato Awang Bemee Ali Basah said that the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 is highly compatible with the goals of Chinese modernization in terms of innovation, connectivity and people-centered development. The two sides should strengthen strategic alignment, expand cooperation in digital economy, green technology, artificial intelligence, blue economy and other fields, and take actions to build the ASEAN-China community with a shared future.

Yorrys Raweyai noted that ASEAN-China Week is timely for bridging our visions not just in words, but in concrete actions for ASEAN and China to achieve modernization together. The future of the world belongs to all mankind, not to any single side or country. Indonesia adheres to an independent and proactive foreign policy and is always willing to carry out all-round cooperation with regional countries including China for the benefit of the people and a safe and peaceful global order.

Mr. Ko Ko Hlaing stated that Myanmar supports China’s global initiatives, calls on ASEAN and China to jointly address challenges and firmly uphold multilateralism to safeguard regional peace and stability. Chinese modernization will provide valuable experience and broad opportunities for the realization of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045. The two sides should focus on deepening cooperation in digital economy and technological innovation, supply chain connectivity, blue economy, people-to-people exchanges and other fields.

At the opening ceremony, senior representatives from ASEAN countries, the ASEAN Secretariat, the Boao Forum for Asia and government of China delivered keynote speeches. All parties spoke highly of the significance of the ASEAN-China Week, emphasizing that ASEAN and China should not let temporary turbulence affect cooperation and mutual trust. Both sides should explore new paradigm of mutually beneficial cooperation and bring a more prosperous future to the region.
The opening ceremony witnessed the launch of the ASEAN-China Digital Cultural IP Repository Initiative, the release of the “The Report on ASEAN-China Trade and Investment Cooperation (2024-2025)”, and the launch of cross-border business of the ASEAN-China Marine Product Exchange.
On the same evening, the “Echos of Unity: ASEAN-China Commemorative Concert” was held at the Fujian Grand Theatre. Renowned artists from ASEAN countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Myanmar performed together with Chinese artists. With art as a link, the concert revisited the Bandung Spirit, commemorated the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam, and injected touching melodies into building a closer ASEAN-China community with a shared future.
Launched in Fuzhou three years ago, the ASEAN-China Week aims to comprehensively promote the ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to the people of both sides. During this year’s event, a series of parallel forums and activities will also be held, including the ASEAN-China High-level Thematic Dialogue, the Youth Round-table on Marine Cooperation, the ASEAN-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Matchmaking Conference, the Media & Think Tank Tea Salon, and the Award Ceremony of the Silk Road International Youth Photography and Short Video Competition.
