Bangkok, October 19 (AseanAll) — On October 19, 2025, at the Centara Grand At Central World Hotel in Bangkok, Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul gave an interview about the Government’s proactive effort in suppressing cyber scams that, according to the report of the Royal Thai Police and Thai Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, 37 individuals have recently been arrested, with further investigation underway. The 1/2025 meeting of the Executive Committee on Cyber Crime Prevention and Suppression will also be held on October 20 to assign tasks to relevant agencies and to build upon the works that have been done.
Cyber scams should become a regional, or even, a global agenda. Thailand pledges to be part of the global endeavor in suppressing scammers in every possible way and form. Regarding a news about 7 Thai politicians allegedly involving with scamming and cybercrime activities in Cambodia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and related agencies have already been instructed to undertake investigations based on available evidence. There will be further probes if the names are confirmed, and if wrongdoings are found, legal proceedings will be pursued without any exception.
On another matter, the Prime Minister stated that the Government would take a decisive and unequivocal action to cut electricity and internet signals along the Thai-Myanmar border if it is found that Thai infrastructure is being used for illegal activities.
