Manila, October 16 (AseanAll) — Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on October 16, 2025 led the swearing-in rites for former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, retired General Benjamin C. Acorda Jr., who took his oath as undersecretary of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) in Malacañan Palace.
A graduate of the Philippine Military Academy Class 1991, Acorda served as the 29th PNP chief from April 2023 to April 2024.
Acorda held the position of PNP Director of Intelligence from August 2022 to April 2023, and Regional Director for the Police Regional Office X (Northern Mindanao) from November 2021 to August 2022.
A pioneer of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, Acorda held multiple key positions in the police force, including Deputy Regional Director for the National Capital Region Police Office, Director of the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group, Chief of Staff of the Civil Security Group, and Chief of the Anti-Fraud and Commercial Crimes Division.
The PAOCC, established under Executive Order No. 295 series of 2000, is mandated to investigate and prosecute criminal syndicates and corrupt officials.
Its functions include conducting intelligence operations and developing anti-crime action plans.
Acorda replaced Gilbert Cruz who took office in January 2023.
