Jakarta, July 28 (AseanAll) — The ASEAN Secretariat is pleased to announce the publication of the 17th issue of the ASEAN Economic Integration Brief (AEIB), highlighting key developments under Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship and the strategic direction set forth by the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Strategic Plan 2026–2030.
In this edition, Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry of Malaysia, provides a compelling perspective on Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship priorities, championing an agenda that places inclusivity, sustainability, and innovation at the core of ASEAN’s economic integration efforts.
Among the notable achievements highlighted are the launch of the AEC Strategic Plan 2026–2030, the successful conclusion of upgraded trade agreements, and the deepening of strategic partnerships with key economic partners, including the Gulf Cooperation Council. These initiatives underscore ASEAN’s commitment to remaining an agile, globally competitive, and resilient economic region.
The issue also features a forward-looking perspective from the AEC Post-2025 Unit of the ASEAN Secretariat, which outlines how the AEC Strategic Plan 2026–2030 serves as a critical bridge between the long-term aspirations of ASEAN Vision 2045: Our Shared Future and the region’s near- to medium-term priorities. This piece highlights how the AEC Strategic Plan 2026-2030 translates high-level ambitions into concrete, actionable strategies to boost economic competitiveness, build resilience, and advance sustainability across ASEAN in an increasingly complex global environment.
