Brunei Minister of Defence II receives introductory call from Ambassador of France to Brunei

Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Brunei Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II, received an introductory call from Her Excellency Eve Lubin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to Brunei Darussalam on 7 July 2025.

During the call, the Minister and the Ambassador expressed their pleasure at the good defence relations between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations on 8 May 1984. Both sides also reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the defence relationships in the years ahead. 

The bilateral defence ties have been actively enhanced through various avenues, including regular exchange of visits, port calls, attendance at exhibitions, training and courses, as well as the convening of Joint Defence Working Committee meetings between both sides.  

Eve Lubin presented her Letter of Credence to  the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on 17 August 2024 as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to Brunei Darussalam.
