Secretary General of the Indonesian Ministry of Defence Makes Introductory Visit to Singapore

Singapore, July 7 (AseanAll)  — The Secretary General of the Indonesian Ministry of Defence Lieutenant General (LG) Tri Budi Utomo called on Singaporean Minister for Defence Mr Chan Chun Sing at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) of Singapore on July 7,2025

During their meeting, Mr Chan and LG Budi reaffirmed the strong and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Indonesia, and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation between both countries.

LG Budi, who is on his introductory visit to Singapore from 6 to 8 July 2025, also co-chaired the 2nd Defence Cooperation Committee (DCC) with Singaporean Permanent Secretary (Defence) Mr Chan Heng Kee. The annual DCC meeting is the highest-level policy platform between both countries’ defence establishments to oversee the implementation of the Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) and set the strategic direction for the strengthening of bilateral defence ties. During the 2nd DCC, both co-chairs noted the good progress made in the implementation of the DCA, discussed new initiatives to further deepen bilateral defence cooperation, such as the upcoming conduct of inaugural joint fighter air patrols, and committed to the conduct of the 3rd DCC in Jakarta next year.

As part of his visit, LG Budi will also visit SAFTI City and the Counter-Terrorism Information Facility (CTIF). At SAFTI City, he will be briefed on its key features and how the Singapore Armed Forces integrates advanced simulations and technology to create a realistic and effective urban training facility. Thereafter, he will visit the CTIF at RSS Singapura – Changi Naval Base, where he will be briefed on the efforts to strengthen multilateral cooperation in tackling terrorism threats.

LG Budi's visit underscores the strength of defence relations between Singapore and Indonesia. Both defence establishments interact regularly through exercises, visits, professional exchanges and cross-attendance of courses. These interactions enhance mutual understanding, strengthen people-to-people ties and professionalism between both militaries.
