Indonesian athlete Pratama Frederick Dewa secured a gold medal in the 45 kg sparring category, while Livia Teresa claimed a silver medal in the 62 kg sparring category. This achievement was praised by the athletes’ accompanying official, Chandra Lesmana Hadi, who stated that these results are a source of great pride and clearly demonstrate the quality of Indonesian athletes at the ASEAN level.

“Participation in international tournaments is very important for athletes to gain experience and further improve their skills. We hope that in the future, even more Indonesian athletes will compete in regional and international events,” said Chandra Lesmana Hadi. He also added that the athletes’ participation was fully supported by ITF Indonesia under the leadership of Rudijanto Tanoesoedibjo.

This Taekwon-Do championship was attended by six Southeast Asian countries, namely Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, and host country Cambodia. The event was officially opened by Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Service, Hun Many.

In his opening remarks, Hun Many emphasized that hosting the Taekwon-Do tournament in Phnom Penh was not only significant for developing national athletes, but also served as a means to strengthen friendship among countries in the region. He further conveyed that the values embodied in Taekwon-Do are highly relevant for the younger generation, fostering resilience and perseverance.

It is hoped that the success of these Indonesian athletes will inspire young people to continue honing their skills and striving for excellence, while also strengthening Indonesia’s bonds of friendship with other ASEAN nations through sports.
