Langkawi, July 2 (AseanAll) — The 63rd Meeting of the ASEAN Consultative Committee for Standards and Quality (ACCSQ) was held on 30 June – 2 July 2025 in Langkawi, Malaysia hosted by Department of Standards Malaysia.

The Meeting served as a platform for ASEAN Member States to strengthen, leverage, and align policies and strategies in reducing technical barriers to trade. A key outcome of the Meeting was the finalisation and endorsement of the ACCSQ Sectoral Plan 2026 -2030. This milestone marks an important step in ASEAN’s continued pursuit inadvancing the harmonisation of standards, technical regulations, and conformity assessment procedures. The plan supports the goal of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Strategic Plan 2026-2030 in realising an integrated single market and production base with new sources of competitiveness.
The ACCSQ Sectoral Plan 2026 – 2030 was developed in alignment with AEC Strategic Plan 2026 – 2030. It outines five strategic measures, namely:
(i) strengthen and expedite joint ASEAN approaches on standards harmonisation efforts towards alignment with international standards and explore the development of ASEAN standards;
(ii) expand standards and conformance initiatives to facilitate development in nascent sectors aiming to reinforce connectivity and integration through technological advancement and sustainable development;
(iii) develop review mechanism to ensure the effectiveness and utilisation of ASEAN standards and conformance instruments;
(iv) strengthen mutual recognition of conformity assessment results in ASEAN; and
(v) strengthen joint ASEAN approaches on issues related to standards and conformance for effective representation and participation in international and regional bodies and associated recognition arrangements.
Prior to the finalisation of the ACCSQ Sectoral Plan 2026 -2030, an End-Term Review (ETR) of the ASEAN Standards and Conformance Strategic Plan 2016- 2025 was conducted. The public version of the ETR, is available online.
