Cambodia, U.S. Exchange Views on Trade and Economic Relations

(AseanAll) — On the morning of 9 May 2025, Mrs. Eat Sophea, Permanent Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia (MFAIC), met with Ms. Reva Price, Chair of the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission and accompanying delegates, to exchange views on Cambodia-U.S. relations.

The two sides noted the positive momentum of the growing Cambodia-U.S. relations in recent years, ranging from education, health, demining, to defense cooperation.

Eat Sophea and the visiting delegates discussed challenges confronting Cambodia-U.S. trade and economic relations.

The Permanent Secretary of State expressed appreciation for the U.S. contribution to the economic empowerment of women and socio-economic development through market access for Cambodian manufactured goods.

She emphasized the Royal Government of Cambodia’s commitment to advance bilateral negotiations with the U.S. on the tariff issue and expressed optimism that the upcoming negotiations scheduled for mid-May 2025 in Washington, D.C. would yield fruitful outcomes.
