Jakarta, March 14 (AseanAll) — Indonesia will contribute to Gaza reconstruction efforts. This commitment was affirmed during a press conference held at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, March 14, 2025, regarding the planned construction of the Indonesian Mother and Child Hospital (RSIA) in Gaza City.
Present at the press conference were the Director of the Middle East Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, Ahrul Tsani Fathurrahman; Chairman of the Presidium of the Aqsa Working Group (AWG), M. Anshorullah; Advisor of Maemunah Centre, Siti Fadilah Supari; Chairperson of Maemunah Centre (MC), Onny Firyanti Hamidy; and Edy Wahyudi as the representative of the RSIA Team.
"This event is part of the follow-up to the launch of the National Campaign 'Indonesia for Palestine' on February 26, 2025, which was officially inaugurated by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Anis Matta, in collaboration with the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas), and more than 30 Indonesian charitable and humanitarian organizations," stated the Director of the Middle East.
Ahrul Tsani expressed appreciation for the initiative taken by AWG and Maemunah Centre in spearheading the RSIA Indonesia project in Gaza City and for their coordination with the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He expressed hope that, through collaboration between the Government and various humanitarian organizations, more initiatives from Indonesia would emerge to contribute to the reconstruction process in Gaza, in addition to those initiated by AWG, Maemunah Centre, Mer-C, DMI, Baznas, and others.
"I would like to once again extend my gratitude to AWG and Maemunah Centre for their initiative in realizing the construction of the Indonesian Mother and Child Hospital in Gaza. This project is a significant part of Indonesia's humanitarian diplomacy in Palestine and a tangible expression of the unwavering support of the Indonesian people," remarked Ahrul Tsani.
According to the agreed Detailed Engineering Design (DED), the Indonesian Mother and Child Hospital will be a four-story building, including a basement, with a total floor area of 10,310 square meters. The estimated cost for the project is approximately IDR 402 billion.
